Proposal: Every two years, the Staff Affairs Committee conducts elections for the campus representatives to the Council of University System Staff (CUSS). CUSS is an important part of the shared governance structure of the University System of Maryland (USM), and its members can influence important issues that directly impact staff. CUSS consists of elected representatives from all USM institutions and is charged with advising the Chancellor and the Board of Regents on a variety of matters.

Voting: May 16 - May 27

On April 28, the Senate Office emailed all eligible staff members with information about the CUSS elections. Fourteen candidates stood for election. Three were elected as primary representatives, three as alternates. Their two-year terms begin in August 2022.

The Staff Affairs Committee will send a memo communicating the election results to the SEC for Senate consideration.
