The Faculty Merit Pay Task Force was created jointly by the President and the Senate to review VII-4.00(A) UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND POLICY ON MERIT PAY DISTRIBUTION. The policy itself states that, "No later than five years after implementation of these recommendations a task force jointly appointed by the President and the Senate shall evaluate the effectiveness of these recommendations". The existing policy was developed in 1992 and amended in 2002. The Faculty Merit Pay Task Force was charged with reviewing the existing implementation of the policy and make recommendations for improvements. The task force reported its findings to the Senate on April 29, 2010, and the Senate approved the recommendations presented. The President approved the recommendations of the task force on May 5, 2010.
