In 2009, the Joint Provost/Senate General Education Task Force was created. The development of a new General Education program was a high priority for the University as an integral component of academic excellence. The task force was charged with developing a dynamic program that engages the entire campus in providing the intellectual context for the academic, civic, and professional lives of our students. The task force reported its findings to the University Senate on April 8, 2010, and the Senate voted to approve its recommendations. The President approved the recommendations on April 14, 2010.
