Take Action
We invite you to get involved with the University Senate and make a difference in our University community. The following pages will show you many different ways to get involved.
You Can...
University Senators are elected by and represent their peers. As a Senator, you would have an opportunity to influence important legislation at Senate meetings, and your contributions could help shape the University. As a Senator, you could also serve on Senate-elected committees, like the Senate Executive Committee and the Nominations Committee.
Committees do the Senate’s heavy lifting – they review proposals and develop the recommendations that the Senate will vote on. Committee members have the opportunity to shape proposals that will be considered by the full Senate on a wide range of issues.
Suggest Improvements to Policies or Procedures
Do you have ideas for ways to make the University better? Are there policies or procedures that are preventing you from doing your best work? If so, you should consider submitting a proposal! Nearly all Senate action starts with a proposal. Proposals are written descriptions of problems or concerns that are submitted to the Senate for review. Any member of the campus community can submit a proposal and ask the Senate to find a solution.
