Many of the issues facing the IT Council have campus-wide implications, and particularly so within Academic Affairs. While the current membership of the Council brings expertise from across the campus, a representative from the Provost's office, who will have intersection with all of the academic colleges and constituents, will bring a campus-wide perspective. This addition to the membership could be very helpful to decision-making for both the IT council and the CIO, particularly when it comes to the difficult task of prioritizing the projects related to enhancing, replacing, or upgrading the many enterprise-level IT systems that support the academic and research missions of the university.
Add a seat to the IT Council membership for a representative of the Provost to serve as a non-voting ex-officio member. Since the VP/CIO is non-voting, it would make sense that the Provost's representative also be non-voting. |
