Actions: The Committee on Committees met on May 21, 2009, and on May 28, 2009. At its first meeting, the Senate Office introduced an online electronic program that was created in order to assist in the placement of the volunteers. The committee members were able to review the submitted volunteer statements on a projected screen. The committee began by focusing on the faculty vacancies on standing committees. By using the new online program, the members were able to see what each
committee would look like if certain volunteers were placed on a committee. The committee members used the faculty volunteers' top three choices from the preference form to place them onto respective committees. By viewing committee
continuing membership, the members were able to consider the diversity of college/department composition as well as diversity of gender, ethnicity, position, etc, while populating the committees. By the end of the first meeting, all of the eligible
faculty members who signed-up were placed on one of their top three committee choices, with only three remaining vacancies. The committee then followed the same process for filling the staff vacancies. Committee members were assigned
responsibilities for further recruitment as needed.

At the second meeting on May 28, 2009, the committee filled all of the undergraduate and graduate vacancies. The remaining faculty vacancies were also filled. The committee members brainstormed new ways to recruit and enhance the process for
the following year. The Senate Office provided the committee members with a spreadsheet detailing the placements made. At the meeting on May 28, 2009, the committee voted unanimously to approve the slate. Following the final placements, the Senate Office alerted all of the volunteers as to whether they had been placed on a committee. The Senate Office and the Chair also worked together to fill any vacancies that arose following the meetings throughout the summer.

Additionally, the Senate Chair-Elect worked with the Provost's Office in order to create the slate of candidates for the Library Council. The Senate Office worked with both the Chair of the Research Council and the Chair of the IT Council in order to
create the slate of candidates for their respective councils.
