Proposal:
|
At the May 2024 University Senate Meeting, Rochelle Newman, then Past Chair of the University Senate and Tenure-Track Faculty in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences (BSOS) presented a proposal to form a Special Committee for Policy Review. The initiative is part of the campus’s preparation for its upcoming accreditation review, which requires addressing issues from the previous review. One such issue identified was the lack of a process for reviewing outdated policies to ensure their continued relevance.
To address this, Newman proposed the creation of a special committee tasked with reviewing existing policy and suggesting updates when needed. It was proposed that the Committee would be composed of 6 faculty members, 1 staff member, 1 undergraduate and 1 graduate student as well as ex-officio members from the Office of the President and Libraries. Members of the Committee would be nominated by the University Senate Leadership Team and then approved by the SEC. This proposal was approved by the University Senate at the May 2024 meeting.
