The Office of the President informed Senate Leadership that the President would be approving the Interim University of Maryland Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) Policy [II-3.10(F)] on an interim basis pending Senate review.
The intent of this OCI Policy is, in part, to provide guidance that will enable members of the University community to engage in activities outside the University while avoiding situations that harm the individual and/or the University through real or perceived ethical, legal, or financial conflicts as they relate to Federal Acquisition Regulations Subpart 9.5. Although such conflicts arise most often when University Members engage in activities outside the University, this policy and any associated procedures apply to all activities of University Members.
Many of the elements of the proposed OCI Policy and Procedures are related to the policies and procedures for personal Conflicts of Interest and Institutional Conflicts of Interest. However, the OCI Policy and Procedure is separate and distinct from those existing policies and procedures, applying specifically to the provisions of Federal Acquisition Regulations Subpart 9.5. |
