Reviewer: Educational Affairs Committee
Received: 2008-09-01
Decision Date: 2010-04-19
Decision: The Educational Affairs Committee voted to request assistance from the Office of the Provost.
Actions: Upon receiving a charge to investigate the number of teaching awards given to instructors and teachers at the University of Maryland, the Educational Affairs Committee began its review. It found that it was unable to complete the charge without further assistance and voted to ask the SEC to contact the Office of the Provost to help gather data on the awards.

In April 2009, the Senate Educational Affairs Committee submitted a memo to the SEC with a number of recommendations regarding how to receive assistance with gathering data on the number of awards given at the University. The committee felt that it was unable to continue review of the issue without existing award information, which is difficult to obtain because there is no central repository of information pertaining to teaching awards.
