Name: Senate Policy on Eligibility for Election in the Faculty Constituency
Proposed: 02/06/2009
Sponsor: Dean Steve Fetter

He inquired whether the School's faculty would be permitted to elect one of these as its representative in the Senate.

Decision: The SEC voted to charge the 2009-2010 ERG Committee with further review of the issue.
Actions: The SEC discussed the ERG Committee's memo at its 4/7/09 and 4/14/09 meetings. The SEC was unsure of who was allowed to interpret the Bylaws at its 4/7/09 meeting and postponed discussion until its 4/14/09 meeting. At the 4/14/09 meeting, Parliamentarian Marvin Breslow stated that interpretation of the Bylaws likely falls to the ERG Committee. The SEC decided to charge the 2009-2010 ERG Committee with review of Professors of the Practice being allowed to run for faculty senator seats.
