Senate Bill 18-19-04
Bill ID: | 18-19-04 |
Name: | Review of the Interim University of Maryland Procedures Related to Family and Medical Leave for Nonexempt and Exempt Staff Employees |
Proposed: | 08/31/2018 |
Sponsor: | President's Office |
Proposal: | The President's Office informed the Senate Office that the University System of Maryland (USM) had updated its policies related to Family and Medical Leave (FML) for Faculty & Staff on April 20, 2018 to clarify federal FML obligations. The University's policies were revised to align with federal guidance requiring all USM institutions to implement a rolling 12-month period for calculating individual FML entitlements rather than using a calendar year and that that no employee be penalized as a result of the conversion to a rolling 12-month period. The President approved the policies on an interim basis pending University Senate review. |
