| Proposal: | Every two years, the Staff Affairs Committee conducts elections for this campus's representatives to the Council of University System Staff (CUSS). CUSS is an important part of the shared governance structure of the University System of Maryland (USM), and its members can influence important issues that directly impact staff. CUSS consists of elected representatives from all USM institutions and is charged with advising the Chancellor and the Board of Regents on a variety of matters. All exempt and non-exempt staff employees on regular and contingent II status who are not part of a collective bargaining unit represented by a union are eligible to run for CUSS and vote for CUSS representatives. |

| Actions: | The 2018 CUSS candidacy period dates are as follows: Candidacy: March 7 - March 16 Voting: March 21 - March 31 On March 7, the Senate Office emailed all eligible staff members with information about the CUSS elections. Seven candidates stood for election. Three were elected as primary representatives, three as alternates. Their two-year terms begin on August 14, 2018. The Staff Affairs Committee will send a memo communicating the election results to the SEC for Senate consideration. |
