Decision: The ERG and Faculty Affairs Committees voted to approve the Plan of Organization
Actions: The ERG Committee received the Journalism School Plan of Organization in September of 2011. It discussed the plan at the meeting on October 3, 2011. It met with Associate Dean Kathy McAdams from JOUR to discuss concerns regarding the plan. It decided to relay its comments and concerns to JOUR and ask them to revise and resubmit their plan.

JOUR returned the revised plan to the ERG Committee in early November, 2011. The revised plan was discussed at meetings on February 2, February 20, and March 28, 2012. The Committee discussed how it felt that many of its concerns had not been addressed in the revised plan. On March 28, the committee voted to return the plan to JOUR for further revision with comments and the checklist.

In addition to the review of the ERG Committee, the Faculty Affairs Committee reviewed the APT section of the JOUR plan. Faculty Affairs discussed the plan at meetings on October 6, 2011 and March 27, 2012 to discuss various stages of the plan. Each time, they identified areas to be addressed in revisions to the plan. The Faculty Affairs Committee voted to return the plan to JOUR to have them address these issues.

After working directly with the Chairs of the Faculty Affairs and ERG Committees in October 2012 on revisions to the Plan, JOUR submitted a revised Plan on November 20, 2012. The ERG Committee reviewed the Plan at its meetings on November 27 and December 14, 2012. It met with representatives from the review committee in JOUR at its meeting on February 21, 2013 and resolved many concerns with the Plan. The ERG Committee assessed the revised Plan in March 2013 and voted to approve it.

The Faculty Affairs Committee reviewed the APT section of the Plan in December 2012 and January-February 2013. It assessed the APT section of the Plan at its meeting in February 2013 and approved the section after working out a few small changes with JOUR.

The JOUR College Assembly voted to approve the Plan on March 7, 2013.
