Proposal: This is a proposal to create a new Bachelor of Science Program at University of Maryland in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science. The objective is to provide the student major with an in-depth understanding, building on two years of basic coursework in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. All students will participate in a research/internship activity. Graduates may easily satisfy the General Services Administration requirements for certification as meteorologist and oceanographer or acquire appropriate background to teach earth system science at the high school level.
