Senate Bill 10-11-11

Bill ID: 10-11-11
Name: Proposal to Review the University of Maryland Policies Concerning Academic Transcripts and Calculation of Grade Point Average
Proposed: 08/07/2010
Sponsor: Jamison Kantor
Proposal: To implement a weighted plus/minus grading system at the University of Maryland. Implementation of a more nuanced calculations (taking account of +and -reflected in 1/3 point increments) system would be more accurate and fair, and could promote a healthier academic environment. Simply revise the policy to calculate student's grade accounting for 1/3 point increments. The weighted plus/minus grading calculation method is widely practiced.
