Bill ID: 20-21-11
Name: Review of the Interim University of Maryland Policy and Procedures for the Use of Facilities and Outdoor Spaces and Guidelines for Expressive Activity
Proposed: 09/18/2020
Sponsor: President's Office
Proposal: The President's Office informed the Senate Office that revisions to the University of Maryland Policy and Procedures for the Use of Facilities and Outdoor Spaces and the associated Guidelines for Expressive Activity (formerly Guidelines on Demonstrations & Leafletting and the Chalking Guidelines) were needed so it is clear where expressive activity may occur as the campus begins the Fall semester and outdoor public speaking by both external and internal users begins. In addition, the University had already received requests for demonstrations that were pending a response. On September 18, 2020, the President approved the revisions on an interim basis pending Senate review.
