Pamela Lanford

Pamela Lanford, Senate Past Chair

Pamela Lanford is a developmental neuroscientist (PhD, UMD 1997), with publications in Nature, Nature Genetics, JARO, and other journals, and is an Assistant Research Professor in the Division of Research. After returning to UMD from the NIH in 2001, Lanford served as a lecturer in the Biological Sciences program for nine years, and in 2010 she joined the ADVANCE Program for Inclusive Excellence as Program Coordinator. In 2014, Lanford was appointed Director of Animal Research Support and was a leader in the effort to achieve the gold standard in animal care - accreditation from AAALAC International. She has been a faculty representative to the Office of Student Conduct, has worked on multiple HHMI-sponsored curriculum initiatives, and participated in the Learning Outcomes Assessment for Life Sciences CORE faculty committee. Lanford has also served on the President’s Commission on Women’s Issues, is a member of the Rainbow Terrapin Network, and currently sits on the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), the Facilities Advisory Committee (FAC), and the Research Support Oversight Committee (RSOC). Lanford has participated in two University Senate standing committees - Human Relations and Campus Affairs -  and most recently has served on the Committee on Committees and the Senate Executive Committee.
