Proposal: A new bachelor of science degree program in Biocomputational Engineering is proposed for delivery at the Universities at Shady Grove. The program is designed to produce graduates with the preparative foundation in bioengineering and quantitative data science, either for employment or for pursuit of advanced degree educational programs. Successful students will have a foundational breadth in computational bioengineering, which includes strong fundamentals in biology combined with quantitative problem solving skills. In addition, the program aims to equip its students with applicable skills in data science to position them to contribute to the fields of bioengineering, the biological sciences, and medicine beyond the capabilities of bioengineering and biomedical engineering graduates.
