Proposal: The Senate Executive Committee (SEC) requests that the Elections, Representation & Governance
(ERG) Committee review the following excerpt of the Senate Bylaws and determine the process by
which teaching faculty should be elected. The SEC would like an interpretation of which option, listed
below best suits the language of the bylaws.

Bylaws Page 4, Section 2.2 (a):
(a) Teaching faculty who are not members of the Faculty Constituency as defined in
Section 3.2 of the Plan shall elect two (2) Senators, one a part time member and one a
full time member of this constituency, for a term of one (1) year, renewable for up to
three (3) years. When the Senate votes by constituencies, those Senators shall have
the same voting rights as a Faculty Senator.

Election Process:
Option 1: All Instructors/Lecturers vote for 2 representatives, 1 full-time and 1 part-time.
Option 2: Full-Time Instructors/Lecturers elect 1 representative and Part-Time Instructors/Lecturers
elect 1 representative for a total of 2 Senators.
Option 3: Other?
