Life gives us so many opportunities to do the right thing: Stand-up. Challenge. Listen. Vote. The Senate has actually given me the opportunity to do all of those things, and much more. It's important to be part of the Senate -- the governance at the University of Maryland --because our voices are heard. As a Senator, I find myself being more concerned with the overall issues of the University, and not just those issues that directly affect me. We nurture our working environment by caring enough to address both small and large issues concerning life on campus. As Senators, we recognize problems, strive to find solutions, and vote on the way to solve those problems. It has been an honor to be a Non-exempt Staff Senate Representative at the University of Maryland.
