Marc PoundThe University Senate has given me a unique opportunity to provide input with regard to improving current policies along with planning for the future of the University of Maryland. The Senate's shared governance model makes the experience even more valuable by bringing together staff, faculty, graduate students and undergraduate students alike all with a voice in University policy. Currently an Undergraduate Business Senator for the 2011-2012 year, I serve as one of the two student representatives on the Senate Executive Committee (SEC).

After attending multiple Senate meetings during my sophomore and junior years, I decided to run for the Senate. I have always been interested in the inner-workings of the University. Being involved in the Senate is a great way for me to stay informed. It is an honor for me to represent the undergraduate student's voice. I hope to help create positive change while serving on the University Senate.

I hope more students take interest in the University Senate and get involved as we all have a say on our own experience here at the University of Maryland.
